Mrs.Garcie an 8th and 7th  grade ELAR/Humanities teacher has been chosen to be the HMS Teacher of the Year. This is an exceptional honor that only one special teacher is granted each year.  Last year Ms. Lisa Duffin took home the honors for her stellar work with the AVID program here at Heritage.  This year Mrs. Garcie has been selected for her amazing work with the Odyssey of the Mind, History Fair and Humanities Programs. She also helped plan and decorate the 8th Grade formal.

When asked how she feels about being Teacher of the Year she answered “It’s a great honor, I’m very flattered because there are a lot of deserving teachers on campus, and I find it a win for the GT kids.” She also said  “ I hope my students know how much I care about them.”

Cadi Garcie, a 7th grade student at Heritage, was also very excited for her mother winning the award. “ She’s been working her gluteus maximus off with History Fair, Humanities, and Odyssey.”

This being Garcie’s 2nd year teaching at HMS, she says she was shocked, and her daughter says she is proud of her mom.  While all teachers at Heritage are great in their own way there can only be one Teacher of the Year.  We love you Mrs. Garcie.
