This wasn’t just any normal Saturday morning as our 8th grade Lady Canes fought for the championship. They were up against Kitty Hawk for the STAC tournament and went into the tournament undefeated. They fought hard after two games but fell short to the flyers in the end.
Kara Kay was up to serve first and the pressure was on. She performed well but eventually the team fell behind 9 points to start of the game. The team fought hard throughout both games with stellar performances from Brianna Helmke, ashley Pearish, Madiysn Alamarez, and several key other players.
Madiysn stated,” I was very ready to win and I went through the pain of coming up short in last year’s STAC championship. I wanted to take back what was meant to be ours.” With every bump, set and spike there was 100 percent effort. The girls had put all they got into the game. They were ready and weren’t going to hold back.
“We already lost and we have nothing else to lose.” stated Coach White. After the 2nd round even the coach knew that they were not going to bring home the trophy. After the game the team hung their heads with their first loss of their season. The Lady Canes fought strong and went down with a fight. The team knew that it hurt to lose but they reflected on their year and smiled.
