7th Grade Lady Canes fall short in Soccer STAC Championship Game

2 min read

Getting to a championship game in any sport is an accomplishment.  The 7th grade lady soccer team did just that when they took on Judson Middle School for the STAC District Championship.

The girls played an amazing season with 5 wins and 3 losses, but of course all good things always come to an end. As much as we wanted to believe that we would make it, we just came a little bit short with the score 5-1.The girls played a hard game, you could feel the intensity from the stands. The girls looked like they were about to burst from exhaustion as the game was hard fought from start to finish.

“I felt like I didn’t try my hardest,I felt like I should’ve asked for the ball more and passed it to my other teammates. In the end I felt happy because we made it so far this season.” Stated Mady Clemons.  While the Judson team was a good team many of the lady Canes felt as if they were better but it just wasn’t their day. “I think we lost because the second half defense wasn’t as good as the first half’s defense. Our confidence took a hit after Judson scored their third goal as we started to give up little by little.”said Darby Chavira.

It hurt us all to see our girls not accomplish for what they’ve been working for this entire season. The good news is our Lady Canes now have a year of experience under their belt as they have another chance next year when they return for their 8th grade season.
